easter haircut

March 21st, 2008

I have been embarassed to post any recent photos of Maui on IRememberLove.com because she hasn’t been groomed since mid-January … which for a Maltese guarantees disaster.

Her hair was matted (even though I bathe her regularly) and Allison, her groomer, was a little worried that Maui would have to be shaved in order to get them out.

But she promised that since it was Easter she would make a special effort to keep the hair … and as always, she worked a miracle!

Some dogs don’t like to be groomed, but Maui does.

She is very content once she gets that it’s going to happen - and just patiently holds out her paws, stands in place, and generally is a very good dog.

She prances for a few days after she gets cleaned up - I can tell she feels better.

She also likes her hair in a “puppy cut” instead of the typical long-hair style for Maltese.

Anyway, I finally took some good photos of my cute doggie, and just to show you the dramatic difference Allison makes in Maui’s life, I put up before and after photos here:

www.irememberlove.com/photo/photo/show?id=2013722%3APhoto%3A3774

I hope you comment on them - and then post a few of your own!

In the meantime, warm Easter wishes to you all, and I hope you are enjoying this early spring day!

Warm Aloha,

James

they just met, and now they’re sleeping together

March 18th, 2008

My friend Stephanie is a schoolteacher here in Maui and she’s in love.

His name is Petey.

Stephanie and Petey met a few days ago at the Maui Humane Society … and let’s just say they’re sleeping together now.

If you haven’t guessed, Petey is a lucky shelter dog to have attracted the eye of my friend Stephanie.

I’m urging Stephanie to start a blog on IRememberLove.com so she can share with the world the adventures (and mis-adventures) of adopting a dog.

Already several of you have started blogging with your own blogs on IRememberLove.com.

It’s extremely easy to use and if you ever thought about creating an online diary, this is the perfect place … and the price is right ;-)

(your own blog for $0!)

Of course you don’t need to start a blog, you can just start by posting a photo of your dog or even commenting on someone else’s photo or video.

Already, a lot of people have posted comments about my video at www.irememberlove.com/video/video/show?id=2013722:Video:15#comments

I hope you will check out IRememberLove.com today and share it with your friends.

The site is totally free and I hope you’ll visit the sponsors who make it possible.

I’d love to hear your comments about my new site. You can post them on my profile page at www.irememberlove.com/profile/JamesJacobson

I’ll keep you posted on Stephanie and Petey and hope to see you in our new online community.

Warm Aloha,

James

behind the scenes of Do You Remember Love

March 5th, 2008

I feel like it’s 1990 again, like I’m back to my former days as a television producer ;-).

You probably don’t know about my background in television, because I usually only talk about dogs in my emails … but it’s true. I used to make television!

Last year when I made Do You Remember Love? for Maui’s Valentine’s Day gift, I was calling on old muscles that haven’t been flexed in a while.

Well, it started something I wasn’t expecting and has turned into waaaaay more than just a little lark of a project.

So many of you have asked me for a DVD version of the movie since last February that it got me thinking maybe I should go back into production mode.

So I just “wrapped” on the DVD version. I wrote all about it on my blog, here:

www.doyourememberlove.com/packwisdom/watch-do-you-remember-love-on-dvd/

The DVD took six months to plan, create, edit, package, and replicate, and I love it.

The DVD can be played in - and looks great on - any television, including the new high-definition sets.

It also includes a fun “behind the scenes” movie that Molly and I made that answers a lot of the questions we get in our email inbox - like whether I mix up Molly and Maui’s names, and who the voice of Maui is in the movie.

We’re not releasing the DVD to the public yet, but I would love to get you, my loyal email readers and fellow dog lovers, to give me your thoughts on the DVD so I can tell others about it.

In order to do that, I want to make you a special offer to watch this DVD for only $9.95.

Now it’s available just for you guys.

Click to read more about it on the blog and get your copy direct from my fulfillment house before I release it to the wider public.

I hope you will because I treasure your feedback and endorsement of this DVD, which you can leave on my blog.

watch this 8 year old champion meditator!

February 27th, 2008

I never thought that meditation could help someone be a champion speed stacker.

(I didn’t even know what speed stacking was until I saw this crazy video.)

Crystal, my assistant, has an 8 year old son named Jake who has been meditating for 8 months now. He told her that it made him a better speed stacker, and he wanted to share his story with you to encourage you to meditate, too.

So Crystal filmed him doing his crazy sport, and then we made this video.

I guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it!

Check it out:

Jake is already a speed stacking champion, but this may make him an internet video star.

Maui sends licks and kisses.

Warm Aloha,

James

appreciation for you: maui is MUCH better!

February 22nd, 2008

Wow - thank you for all of your good thoughts for Maui’s health and well-being in the last few days. Within a few hours after sending that email, she visibly perked up.

And that night she ate her first full meal in a week. The next morning she was hungry and waiting for another full meal … and since has been absolutely “regular” in her habits ;-) and back to bouncy.

I’ve been sending all of you my thanks and appreciation, and also to your dogs and cats and other precious creatures.

This morning I got a link from my friend Dr. Andrew Jones with HIS newsletter reader “Appreciation” special - so appreciation seems to be the buzzword of the week.

How appropriate!

Dr. Jones has put all of his products - which are invaluable to me in sifting through health options with my elderly Maui - on sale at 75% off through Monday.

Take a look here now:

I appreciate you so much. Much health to you.

Maui sends licks and kisses.

all is finally “whale”

February 20th, 2008

I tried to think of something inspirational to write about for this morning’s email, but I am having some trouble.

It’s been a distracted week for me, because Maui got some sort of a stomach bug last week and didn’t feel tops for quite a few days.

I find it really hard to focus - not only because she wasn’t feeling well, but also because it was the anniversary of her adoption day … and it felt like a significant time.

Our meditations helped keep us close and both of us calm. She’s feeling MUCH better this morning - finally ate a whole bowl of food like she usually does - and I’m glad.

But a little nagging voice in the back of my head seems to still be speaking up with a “is she really OK?”

So I am going to ask you a favor. Will you please send Maui some “good vibes” or prayers or meditate on her health today?

I know that millions of people thinking of her health will do wonders.

While we’re at it, why don’t we all do a meditation for all of our pets today. We all deserve to know that all of us are caring about each other and our loved ones.

If you want a really cool “meditation” soundtrack, I recently found out about this AMAZING website with actual, live broadcasts of the whales off the coast of Maui!

This very cool group of people have a microphone under the water (right where I live, actually) that broadcasts to the internet, so you can listen to the whales on your computer.

A friend once told me that during whale season (November to April) on Maui all is “Whale” no matter what.

So maybe we should listen to the whales telling us that All Is Whale, while we meditate on our dogs (and cats, and parakeets, and all creatures) wellness or “whaleness”.

Go here to listen: http://whalesong.net

If you have the time to post your thoughts or prayers for Maui and everyone else’s pets on please make a comment!

Warm Aloha from Maui, where Maui is Whale, finally.

;-)

Maui’s choice

February 12th, 2008

It’s the eve of Maui’s adoption day, and my heart is full of love and warm feelings.

In early February, 1993, I was living in Washington, DC, and searching for my soulmate dog - the little white dog I’d wanted since I was three years old.

I went to breeders, shelters, and people advertising in the newspapers … but on Valentine’s Day, I saw this little tiny white doggy who I recognized instantly as *mine.*

(It seems a lot of people “recognize” their dogs, doesn’t it?)

I named her Maui - after the island I commuted to every few weeks and wanted to make my full-time home - and Valentine, after the day.

It’s a name that means love, love, love to me.

Maui Valentine.

She’s been my valentine ever since, and every day reminds me of how precious life is.

How open your heart can get, and how peaceful life can be when we just sit together and breathe.

Meditating with Maui and loving her more each day has brought me gifts I never expected.

So I celebrate her today, and I celebrate all of you, who love your dogs like I love Maui.

Let’s do a little Valentine’s meditation tomorrow.

Sit with your dog for as little as five minutes and know that people all over the world are doing the same - even if we’re not all meditating at the same time.

Sit and breathe and just BE.

Our dogs can make Valentine’s Day delicious for us … let’s make it delicious for them!

Happy (Maui) Valentine’s Day.

Warm Aloha,
James

PS: If you haven’t sent your Valentines greetings, now is the time!

And if you have - isn’t there one more person who would love to hear from you on Valentine’s Day?

an early Valentine.

February 11th, 2008

Maui's Valentine to you.

Happy Valentine’s Day, lovely dog lovers. (Yes, I know I’m a little early. Valentine’s Day is just such an important day to me - the day I adopted Maui, and the day I put Do You Remember Love? on the web.)

My heart is full up with love because I just finished a little meditation with Maui, who is sitting on my lap and “lapping up” the love.

If you haven’t yet selected your free Valentine ecards for all those you love, do so now! Send your cards from this link:

who else should get an ecard?

February 8th, 2008

As always, I’m blown away by how dog lovers respond to simple acts of kindness. Like getting one of the silly ecard Valentines I put up the other day.

http://doyourememberlove.com/ecards

I’ve been hearing from all over about how wonderful it feels to get a dog-related Valentine.

Here’s how people are using these cards:

Spouses are sending a valentine to their spouse but on behalf of their dog.

Friends are sending a valentine to their friend … but on behalf of their friend’s dog!

http://doyourememberlove.com/ecards

I’ve heard that dog lovers are also sending these valentines to their dog loving
