in my next life I want to be my dog
Aloha Dog Lover,
A friend of mine recently moved to Aspen, Colorado from New York City.
She is amazed at how happy Aspen dogs seem to be.
She says they’re treated like royalty.
They are allowed in restaurants, they hike the trails, they swim in the rivers, and their people buy trucks just to chauffer them around.
Aspen even has bumper stickers that say, “Livin the dog’s life in Aspen.”
She joked, “In my next life, I’m coming back as an Aspen dog.”
I know just how she feels.
Some people listen to me talk about Maui and think, “S-P-O-I-L-E-D.”
(Some of my friends have even said that to my face!)
I think she’s just well-pampered.
(And that works for us - except when she barks too long or loudly or pees in unexpected places. But I can’t help love her anyway.)
It doesn’t take me much time to make her home cooked meals or give her the love she asks for during the day.
It’s insignificant compared to the joy she’s given me. She is so devoted to loving me.
She is my meditation partner and my trusted and loyal friend.
How could I not give her the best of everything, when she so deserves it?
Come to think of it, Maui’s living a lavish life. She gets whatever she wants!
Maybe I *should* come back as my dog next time!
PS: The good folks at http://dogproblems.net have given me a lot of help in finding kind ways to “discipline” my little princess. I highly recommend their comprehensive site:
